Abby: Tell me a Bible story, Nim.
Nim: Okay. A-hem!
Nim: Jesus told his apostles to go out and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. But Thomas raised his hand and asked, "What do WE get out of this?"
Nim: And Jesus said, "7 percent on a sliding scale."
Abby: (What the...?)
Nim: And that's what known as "The Great Commission."
Abby: It is not!
Modern church websites are often amazing and very cutting-edge. But if they don’t communicate effectively with the congregation, they’re not doing their job.
Con: Have you seen the church's new website?
Nim: No, is it nice?
Con: Nice? It's got a calendar and instant messaging and podcasts and streaming video and games and news and sub-sites for each Sunday School class and tons of pictures and a Facebook app and totally interactive areas that keep everyone up-to-date constantly on every minute detail of the church and its staff seven days a week!
Nim: WOW! THAT SOUNDS INCREDIBLE!
Con: Yeah, too bad I can't figure out how to use it.
The new song “Bulletproof” from Citizen Way‘s second album, “2.0” is a fun way to praise God. In fact, the whole album is great! I had it playing while drawing this strip. Check it out on iTunes.
God’s Word is absolute and let us know what is right or wrong. Don’t try to rewrite His laws for your own selfish purposes, instead try to show obedience to god to be more like Christ.
Obedience to God is a good model for all relationships in your life. Carry the idea over to how you treat your loved ones. If you want to show respect, show obedience.
Con: Learn anything new in your obedience class?
Abby: I sure did!
Abby: Obedience is actually just showing respect. So if we respect God, we WANT to obey him. But if we're constantly disobeying him, we should recognize that we're dissing God!
Con: Pardon? "Dissing" God?
Abby: It's a technical term.
Today in obedience school, I learned that my master doesn't like it when I just beg all the time.
Abby:
I thought he loved it when I whined and begged in my adorable way. I thought it meant as much to him as it does to me when he would finally just give me a cookie.
Abby:
But now I found out that what he wants most is just to spend some time with me.
