Nim’s Got A Bad Gratitude

Nim: I hate going to the vet! I hate it! I hate it! I hate it!!!
Abby: You should try to change your perspective. Try to have gratitude that God has provided us with modern medicine. Instead of saying "I hate the vet!" say "Thank you, God for creating talented veterinarians I can go to."
Nim: Easy for you to say. You don't have to go to the vet today.
Abby: True.

Sometimes it's hard to remember to give thanks for things that aren't fun. Try to do it anyway.

I heard a man complain about the price of gas today.

He said it was an outrage, how much he had to pay.

But that was not the only thing that put him in a huff.

Then he said his gourmet coffee wasn't hot enough.

In spite of all his blessings, no gratitude had he.

I guess he failed to realize...

Nim: I've been having a rough time lately. Why is God letting this happen?

Abby: Isaiah and 1 Peter speak of believers in terms of gold, which is "tried" by fire to become pure. Likewise, people become pure by being "tried."

Abby: But you should always remember that some of God's greatest blessings can only come from hard times. Charles Stanley calls them the Blessings of Brokenness.
Nim: (!)

Nim: Dang! Those must be some strong blessings!

Suffering and Blessings

Abby: I had a bad day! My teacher yelled at me today and I didn't do anything wrong!

Jerry: Then you're blessed. The Bible says if you "suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed."

Abby: (Sniff) Really?
Jerry: Absolutely!

Abby: Am I blessed with ice cream?
Jerry: I'll get some bowls.

Always do what is right, even when no one knows you did it...because God knows!

Nim: I know somebody who always complains. She never sees the blessings in her life.

Con: You should pray for her. Pray that God will reveal her blessings and then touch her heart so that she can focus on the positive. Which will help her deal with her difficulties more easily.

Nim: I was just going to tell her to shut her kibble-hole and quit complaining, but your way sounds better.

If you remember your blessings, it's easier to deal with your problems.
