Proverbs 6 – Wicked Schemes

Proverbs 6:16-19

Nim: Define "wicked scheme."
Con: Pardon me?
Nim: You heard me, smart guy.
Con: Well...a "wicked scheme" would be an unrighteous act that is extremely offensive, both morally and spiritually.
Nim: Would acting really cute for my master just to get an extra cookie be a wicked scheme?
Con: No.
Nim: EXCELLENT!

The 4th thing Proverbs 6:16-19 tells us that God hates is "a heart that devises wicked schemes."

Psalm 131 And Haughty Eyes

Nim: I'm reading Psalm 131. I've made sure my hearts not proud. I don't concern myself with great matters and I've put my hope in the Lord. But I need to make sure my eyes aren't haughty.
Abby: Nope. Not haughty. They're a little bloodshot. And you've got some crust in the corners.
Nim: Hey!!!

Psalm 131 shows us that we shouldn't judge others. Judgment is to be left to God.

Deuteronomy 8: Man Does Not Live On Bread Alone

Con: Deuteronomy says "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord."
Abby: Is that something I'd have to buy from a specialty grocer?

Deuteronomy 8:1-3 helps us understand how to live Godly lives.

The Great Commission

Nim: Okay. A-hem! Jesus told his Apostles to go out and disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. But Thomas raised his hand and asked, "What do we get out of this?" And Jesus said "7 percent on a sliding scale."
Abby: What the...?
Nim: And that's what's known as "The Great Commission."
Abby: It is not!

The Great Commission says that all Christians must spread God's Word throughout the world.

James 1:5 And Godly Wisdom

Nim: SILENCE! I FEEL A THOUGHT COMING ON!

When the Bible speaks of "Wisdom," it usually means wisdom about God and Salvation.

Matthew 6:26 | Your Heavenly Father Feeds Them

Con: That's silly. Your Master will always feed you.
Con: Besides, Matthew 6:26 says, "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"
Amos: I didn't hear anything about Eukanuba in that verse.
