Your body is the Temple for the Holy Spirit and represents the life God gave each of us. Don’t take such a precious gift for granted, take care of yourself.
Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
Nim: Why am I on this stupid diet? It's not like it's a sin or anything to be fat!
Abby: Maybe it's not a sin, but it shows ingratitude to God for his gift of life. Plus, our bodies are the Temple of the Holy Spirit and should be kept as pure as possible.
Nim: Don't argue with me today, fuzzball! I may be small, but I'm hungry!
Look at what you do to excess and ask, "Is this interfering with my relationship with God?"
Samson & Delilah is a story of love and betrayal. Have you ever had someone betray you? Search your heart and ask God to reveal anyone you’ve ever betrayed.
Finally, Samson shared his secret with her. “My hair has never been cut,” he confessed, “for I was dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as anyone else.”
Abby: Who lost his strength with a haircut?
Con: Sampson!
Abby: You misspelled it. There's no "P" in it.
Con: I didn't realize you'd take points off for spelling.
Throughout the Bible, we’re told “fear not,” “have no fear” & “do not be afraid.” When you give your soul to Christ, you can rest easy in His protection.
So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?”
Abby: Your fear of thunder is irrational, Con.
Con: I know.
Abby: Thunder is just a sonic wave created by the expansion of air surrounding a bolt of lightning.
Con: I know it's irrational, but you of all people should understand. After all, you're afraid of rolled-up newspapers.
Abby: You're not actually comparing a little thunder to "Satan's Baseball Bats," are you?
1 John 4:18 is one of the 365 times that we’re told in the Bible we should have no fear. God can help you get over any fear you have, just ask Him for help.
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
Abby: The 4th of July was great. We watched fireworks from the church lawn.
Con: (SHUDDER)
Abby: I heard about you running and hiding in the church when the fireworks show started.
Con: I thought it was thunder. You know how I feel about the Godless thunder!
Abby: "Godless" thunder?
Sometimes talking about your fears can help you deal with them.
Paul compares the life of a Christian to many things, one of them a race. Are you prepared for the stamina & dedication that your “faith race” will require?
…athletes cannot win the prize unless they follow the rules.
Con: Paul compared the life of a Christian to a race. The longer we run, the harder it is. We grow tired & careless, but Jesus will help each of us win our race.
Abby: What kind of shoes do I need to buy for this race?
The race Paul talks about represents our daily battle against sin.
Jerry: I have to use the church's computer because mine in on the grits.
Abby: On the grits? Don't you mean "on the fritz?"
Jerry: No. YESTERDAY it was "on the fritz." So today it's in a dumpster out back of the Waffle House.
If you need a computer, but don't have one, see if your church offers them in the library.
Each day, take a few minutes to give thanks to God for all he has done for you. Gratitude is one of the most powerful ways to connect with God on everyday.
Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.
Do you trust that God will take care of you everyday? Or do you constantly worry about things, trying to take full control yourself? Let go and let God.
Nim: My newest scheme is gonna make me millions!
Abby: Why is it so important to you to make millions?
Nim: Because...well...um...because...you see...it's...I...
Abby: It's not because you don't trust God to take care of you and that you have to take care of yourself, is it?
Nim: You know, you're sucking all the fun out of the world domination thing.
